Mor Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Cathedral Dubai
The 123rd Patriarch of the See of Antioch & All the East adorning the Throne of St. Peter, the Chief of Apostles, and the Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Syrian Orthodox Church. His Holiness was chosen to lead the Holy Church at the Universal Synod held on Monday, 31 March 2014, at Lebanon after the demise of the blessed Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas and was installed as the Supreme Head of the Syrian Church at a divine ceremony presided over by H.B. Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, the Catholicos of India and assisted by the Metropolitans of the Universal Church, held at the St.Peter & St.Paul's Cathedral in the monastery of Mor Aphrem in Ma`arat Sayyidnaya near Damascus, Syria on 29 May 2014, the remembrance day of Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ.
HB Catholicos Mor Baselios Joseph was born on 10 November 1960 as the youngest of four children to Srambikkal Pallithitta Geevarghese and Saramma in Perumpilly, Mulanthuruthy. He is the grandchild of the cousin of St. Gregorios Geevarghese (Parumala Thirumeni). On 25 March 1974, he was ordained deacon by LL HG Mor Gregorios Geevarghese Metropolitan (Perumpally Thirumeni) at Mor Ignatius Dayro Manjinikkara. He did pre-degree and degree studies from Maharajas College, Ernakulam and theological studies from Mor Julius Seminary, Perumpally. On 25 March 1984, he was ordained Kassiso at Marthoman Church, Mulanthuruthy, by LL HB Mor Baselios Paulose II Catholicos. He did his master's degree in philosophy from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and higher studies in theology from the US. He was ordained Ramban by Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas at Damascus on 15 January 1994. On 16 January 1994, Joseph Ramban was consecrated as HG Mor Gregorios Joseph Metropolitan by LL HH Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, at Damascus, for the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church Cochin Diocese in Malankara. Sunthroniso was held at Kyomtha Cathedral, Thiruvankulam on 23 January 1994. His Grace was ordained by HH Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II as Maphryono and Catholicos of India of Syriac Orthodox Church on March 25, 2025 at St. Mary's Cathedral, Atchaneh, Lebanon.
